When a Capture The Flag game is loading, many new players will be dreaming of an epic run to the opponent’s flag, besting the opposition, and heroically returning to base with their flag in hand. Sure, it can be a thankless task at times, but it’s essential to play it safe when defending, as the opponents can come bursting into the base at any second. A few inactive seconds may not sound too bad, but when the opponents are attacking the flag, it may as well be a few minutes, as the dead player likely won’t respawn until it’s too late and the opponents are already rushing back to their base. This can be costly, as Halo Infinite has a death penalty, where players are timed out for a few seconds. Consequently, many beginners will get agitated, either through boredom or because they think they’re not helping the team enough, causing them to move out of position or lose concentration. When defending the flag, there will inevitably be periods of time with nothing to do. Although a team of strangers won’t be able to implement advanced war tactics by any means, they can still employ simple strategies to give themselves the best chance at victory.Ī simple strategy is to have a team of at least two players defending the objective, as one defender can easily be overrun while at least two players should collectively attack the flag, as just one attacker will find it very difficult to capture the flag, especially if the opposition is organized. When playing and communicating with friends, this is simple to conduct, but when playing with non-communitive strangers, it can be very tricky. 5 Have A Game Planįollowing on from the previous point, it’s important to have a game plan. Halo: Reach will still feature a wealth of other Playlist offerings, ranging from social to competitive (and everything in between), but the Arena is all about extreme competition.To put it bluntly, there is no purpose in playing Capture The Flag without prioritizing the objective, as the team will be heavily beaten, and even if the player racks up a lot of kills, the point payout will be minimal. These animation look cool, but also leave you open to attack - so skip them if you mean business! Different instances result in different animations. You are completely susceptible to damage and even an Assassination while performing the move. Rockets will be a one hit kill at close range, as will the Shotgun, even though the April Fools' ViDoc might have indicated otherwise. The Long Rifle is exempt, as are other weapons you might expect to be. Hold down the melee button to perform an Assassination.įor those fearing that this new model will impact weapons like the Sniper Rifle, rest easy. Luckily, melee attacks from the rear still result in an instant kill. It can take two hits to fully kill a foe making frontal assaults much less advantageous than any previous Halo game. Melee attacks are a bit weaker than before in Halo: Reach. The Active Camo ability will jam the radar or anyone around you including your own - multiple blips will appear. The blips tracking enemies above you appear with a dark rim or "shadow" below them. The Radar system is improved and can now reveal enemies below and above you: Enemies below your level will appear as a blip that's a darker shade of red or maroon. You can refill your health at wall-mounted Health Stations (a white panel with a red "H") by approaching them and pressing the button shown.Ĭertain things, like the Plasma Pistol and the electromagnetic pulse from the Armor Lock, disable shields. While your shield will recharge, your health is finite. Health and shields operate in a new way in Halo: Reach.
